The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are renting a £ 8 million mansion near their friends Sir Elton John and David Furnish, according to a source.

Prince Harry, 35, and Meghan Markle, 38, currently reside in a house in Los Angeles until they find a permanent place to stay away from onlookers.

“Meghan and Harry have been hunting for months, but have yet to find their dream home,” said a source, speaking to The Sun. “The market is bombing right now, so a permanent move seems to be far away.”

The ‘paparazzi-proof’ property is believed to be ‘far from prying eyes’ and offers high security including two guarded checkpoints, along with a swimming pool, gym and landscaped gardens.

With the closure in Los Angeles until May 15, members of royalty are believed to have been in contact with the singer, 73, and her husband David, 57, via a video link.

The musician is an old friend of the royal couple, having invited to their wedding in May 2018 and in August this year, the royalty traveled to Nice, France, to stay with Elton in his £ 15 million mansion.

He has a close relationship with the royal family and also attended the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding at Westminster Abbey in 2011.

It comes after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were photographed in Los Angeles for the first time.

The duke and duchess were seen delivering food packages on behalf of the Los Angeles-based Angel Food nonprofit project on Wednesday.

Harry and Meghan were captured by surveillance cameras arriving at the Sierra Bonita Community Apartments in West Hollywood in their SUV at 10:55 a.m.

A security team accompanied the couple in a separate SUV that followed closely behind, but they chose to walk to the apartment to deliver the food alone.

Dressed casually in jeans, Harry and Meghan followed the new California rules regarding facial covers, issued by Governor Gavin Newsom on April 15.

While Harry chose to cover his face with a blue scarf, Meghan wore what appeared to be a white surgical mask. The couple also wore a single glove on their right hand.

Meghan and Harry spent two days volunteering with the nonprofit organization last week, who cook and deliver meals to critically ill people who are most at risk amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

None of the charity’s clients knew that the duke and duchess were going to deliver the food, and none had been warned of their arrival.
