Every business has to start somewhere, and luckily the question will never be as challenging as “Which came first: the chicken or the egg?”

But when we revealed that the Five Guys hamburger chain would reopen in the bullring, we wondered … how many people would show up?

Would many people be foaming at the mouth with hamburger deprivation syndrome?

The answer, it turns out, was very simple.

There was a boy in Five Guys.

Five Guys had emphasized that it was only reopening for Deliveroo and Click & Collect orders.

And the government council had not changed.

Blocking the coronavirus pandemic ordered by Prime Minister Boris Johnson at 8:30 p.m. on Monday, March 23 still has the same rules.

Five Guys declined our offer to have a staff member appear outside the store for a long distance call.

Instead, it issued these strict rules on how it would work only for Deliveroo and Click & Collect orders.

  • Order on the Five Guys app or website to click and collect or receive Deliveroo delivered food
  • Numerous social distancing measures have been implemented for clients and crew to comply with government guidance
  • Five Guys Crew members from across the UK would continue to deliver burgers and fries to hospitals and key workers.

Five Guys was established in 1986 by the Murrell family in Virginia and launched in the UK at Covent Garden on July 4, 2013.

Bullring Birmingham and Touchwood Solihull opened in 2014.

But the latter remains closed because the mall is still closed.
