Jessica Simpson criticized a Vogue writer who said she ‘put her breasts on a tray’ in a piece that celebrates the story of the famous Met Gala.
Sharing her anger at ‘being embarrassed about having breasts’, Jessica called her description of her 2007 outfit ‘nauseating’.
Along with her words, the mother of three shared an iconic 1957 image of Jayne Mansfield, in which Sophia Loren glances sideways at the blonde’s plunging neckline as they sit together at a dinner in honor of the Italian star.
“Feeling a bit like Jayne Mansfield after reading this (inaccurate!) #MetBall oral story where I’m embarrassed by #SallySinger,” Jessica wrote on Instagram.

“Feeling a bit like Jayne Mansfield after reading this (inaccurate!) #MetBall oral story where I’m embarrassed by #SallySinger,” Jessica wrote on Instagram.
‘But in all seriousness I have persevered in shaming my own body and internalizing the world’s views on it throughout my adult life. Reading this long-awaited article about the most stylish fashion event out there and should be embarrassed by another woman for having breasts in 2020 is nauseating. ”
Former Vogue creative digital director Singer had contributed her reminiscences about the Met Gala to a long piece for the magazine.
She had sat down with Jessica and her boyfriend, singer John Mayer, and remembered him flirting with the singer.
Flirty: John Mayer was with Jessica at the gala, and was photographed looking flirty during the event
Exes: the couple separated later in 2007
Inaccurate: The singer wrote about Jessica: “ She was wearing Michael Kors and her breasts may have fallen out of her dress on the red carpet. ”
Iconic: This image of Sophia Loren giving Jayne Mansfield a serious side was taken in 1957 at Sophia’s ‘Welcome to Hollywood’ dinner
She wrote: ‘One year Jessica Simpson was there with John Mayer. She was wearing Michael Kors and her breasts maybe fell off her dress on the red carpet … and then, at dinner, it was suddenly like, whoa, Jessica Simpson’s breasts are in front of me at the table and they’re on a tray and I’m looking at them
‘And John Mayer was putting his hands on them on the table. He bent down and I just remember thinking: Oh celebrities, feel free to play here. That’s what’s happening.
The 2007 Jessica dress for the Poiret: King of Fashion theme party was designed by Roberto Cavalli, with whom Jessica walked the red carpet.
But Mayer joined her inside the party, with whom she had a turbulent on / off relationship, which eventually parted ways later in 2007.
Designer: While Sally Singer attributed Jessica’s sparkly dress to Michael Kors, it was actually the brainchild of Roberto Cavalli
His own work: Cavalli hugs Jessica as they pose together on the red carpet.
Beauty: Jessica smiles for the cameras in 2007; Singer said her breasts had “sagged”
Angry: Jessica reflected on Tuesday “Reading this long-awaited article about the most stylish fashion event out there and should be embarrassed by another woman for having boobs in 2020 is nauseating”
Jessica recalled in her memoir, Open Book, which was released in February of this year, that after a few months of dating, John repeatedly told her how ‘obsessed’ he was with her, ‘sexually and emotionally’.
Three years after their separation, John did an interview with Playboy magazine, where he said: ‘That girl, to me, is a drug. And drugs are not good for you if you take too many of them. Yes, that girl is like crack to me. Sexually it was crazy. That is all I will say. It was like napalm. sexual napalm.
In her memoirs, Jessica recalled the comments as “shocking” because “a woman and how they are in bed is not something that has been discussed.”
She wrote that she believes “he thought that’s what he wanted me to be called”, but instead, she felt “embarrassed and ashamed that my grandmother would really read it.”
Writer: Sally Singer, right, is seen with then Vogue editor Anna Wintour in 2009
Now it is: Jessica and her third child, her daughter Birdie, are seen in quarantine.
