A 20-year-old Coventry University student was found dead in a residence hall, becoming the eighth UK student to die in less than a month.
West Midlands police said the student was discovered in the corridors of Bishop Gate in the city center last Friday, and detectives were treating the death as non-suspicious.
The man, who has yet to be identified, is at least the eighth student to have died since British universities returned last month after the coronavirus shutdown.

Coventry University is not believed to have closed the student halls, although its most recent data shows that 36 students tested positive for Covid-19.
Figures for the week ending October 6 included 21 students who had been on campus and 15 off campus. An employee was also confirmed to have the virus.
Shocking footage from last month showed hundreds of students in Coventry climbing onto ping pong tables and raving in an accommodation block.
At least 200 students were thought to have crowded into a common room at Arundel House, near the university’s main campus, ignoring social distancing guidelines and “rule of six” restrictions.
Some revelers could be heard screaming, while a group of male students climbed onto a table while singing along to the music.
A Coventry University spokesperson said today: “We are saddened by the death of one of our students. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this terrible time and we are offering all the support we can to the family.
‘We have a full range of mental health support services available to students and colleagues affected by this tragic news. We ask that the privacy of the family be respected. ‘
A West Midlands police spokesman said: “We were called to the student accommodation on 16 October where the body of a man in his 20s was found.
“His death is not being treated as suspicious and has been referred to the coroner.”
Bishop Gate is a university-owned residence that opened in 2018 and offers 725 bathrooms and studios in nine- and ten-bedroom apartments, costing up to £ 199 per week.
Among the students from other universities who have been found dead since returning last month is Bath University student Martin Bowers, 20, whose body was found in the River Avon on September 25 after he disappeared six days. before in Bristol.

And last Thursday, Nottingham Trent University student Hope Starsmore, 20, died eight days after a car accident in the Lincolnshire town of Burgh Le Marsh.
