A 14-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with murdering 12-year-old Roberts Buncis, whose body was found in Fishtoft, near Boston, on Saturday morning.

The teenager, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, appeared in Lincoln Magistrates Court for a five-minute hearing.

Wearing a gray sweater and with what appeared to be a bandage on his right hand, he spoke to confirm his name, address and date of birth, before being referred to appear at Lincoln Crown Court later that day.

In a statement released today, on what Lincolnshire police revealed should have been the victim’s 13th birthday, the force said: “Following formal identification, we are now in a position to name the child who lost his life in this Tragic Incident About 12. -Old Roberts Buncis.

Police also confirmed that a 19-year-old man arrested Sunday on suspicion of murder remained in police custody.

Detective Superintendent Martyn Parker said: “This is a devastating incident in which a child lost his life.

“Without a doubt, the impact will be felt a lot in the community and beyond.

“This type of incident is not what we would expect to see in our communities. We are working with those affected to keep them informed and offer our support.

“I want to assure the public that we will do everything in our power to thoroughly investigate the circumstances of this young man’s death and we urge anyone with information that may support this investigation to get in touch.”

A message from the organizer, Agnes Emsina, reads: “As many of us now know, Roberts Buncis’s life was tragically taken from his family and friends on Saturday December 12, he was 12 years old.

“Roberts comes from a single parent family, just Roberts and his dad Edgars and therefore we would like to help with funeral costs and also make this time easier for his family.

“Anything that can be donated will be greatly appreciated, even if it is only a few pounds.

“Thank you and God bless you all.”

Lincolnshire Police are asking anyone with CCTV to cover the intersection of Freiston Road and Woodthorpe Avenue, and the entire length of Wing Drive and Alcorn Green between 8 p.m. on December 11 and 10.22 a.m. on December 12 to get in touch.
