***TO UPDATE***
Well this is weird.
Sam Alvey walked through the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, pointed to the empty seats, and pretended to collide all five with fans who normally would have been there.
Of course, no one was cheering. These are weird times, and UFC 249’s first fight was accordingly quite strange.

Bruce Buffer’s performances have been followed by deafening silence instead of roars, corner conversations and every desperate, shaky breath can be heard, while Joe Rogan’s post-fight interviews have lacked his usual pop.
However, the lack of atmosphere has certainly not affected the action.
Alvey and Ryan Spann set the tone, Bryce Mitchell put on a wrestling masterclass before Vicente Luque and Niko Price went to war.
Price’s eye was completely broken when the doctor said he could not continue in the third round.
In the final fight of the preliminaries, Anthony Pettis beat Donald Cerrone in an entertaining three-round welterweight bout.
