PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Two Pittsburgh-area mail carriers have been charged with delaying or destroying mail by a postal worker, U.S. Attorney Scott Brady announced Wednesday.

One count is a criminal complaint against Sean Trochek and the other is a criminal complaint against James McLennan.

Special agents from the United States Postal Service raided Trochesch’s home in Baldwin on Sunday night, after a tip-off that he was taking mail from his vehicle and putting it in a bag, according to the criminal complaint. When agents arrived, they asked Trosh if there was mail in the bag and he said one did, the complaint says.

He later admitted that there was mail in all the bags, and that four items of mail were found in his personal vehicle, the complaint says.

The complaint states that 314 items of first-class mail, seven items of certified mail, one item of priority mail and 1,311 items of political advertising or campaign mail were found in the list of mail received from Trosh’s vehicle and bag. Seized mail does not contain a mail-in ballot but contains a mail-in ballot application.

McLennan is accused of throwing mail out of the Lawnsville Parsad Center. KDKA’s Andy Sheehan had earlier reported that Tony Kuhr, the centre’s coordinated operations coordinator, continued to search for mail in the trash. He checked his surveillance camera and saw a mail carrier that other bundles had been thrown after the mail was delivered to the center.

The criminal complaint states that investigators interviewed McLennan on October 8. It was found in the trash outside the center.
