Two new COVID-19 cases, six active cases in Tuolumne County


SONORA, CA – There are two new cases in the county today and individuals are in solitary confinement, according to a report from Tuolum County Public Health. No known COVID-19 positive people have been hospitalized. More details about the age of the coronavirus case are not available. A total of 11,948 tests were reported to Tuolumne County Public Health with 237 tests reported positive and 213 recovered. A total of 14 inmates who recovered included a number of positive cases in Tuolumne County.

Due to the Drive-Through Flu Vaccine Clinic scheduled for 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. that day at Sonora Library / Senior Center, there is no public health note in the Department of Health on Tuesday, October 13th. See the event calendar list here for more information.

The no-cost state test site, currently located in Kave Levaras County Fairgrounds, will visit the Mother Load Fairgrounds in Sonora in late October. The site will be open for testing starting Tuesday, November 3rd. Appointments can begin at www.lhicare.com/covidtesting a few days before the start of the day.

The test site at Calevaras County Fairgrounds is open Tuesday – Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. This site offers testing for children ages 3 and up (with parents or guardians). Tuolumne County Public Health encourages anyone with the potential to take the test and essential workers are encouraged to take the test every two weeks.

It is important that people continue to follow prevention guidelines to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, including:

  • Practice physical distance at all times. Keep 6 feet of space between yourself and people who are not part of your home. Stay in the bubble of your home!
  • Cover face in public.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly and frequently.
  • Avoid gatherings of any size with people who are not part of your home.
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Avoid unnecessary travel, and limit the tasks you need to get around.
