Conchata’s husband, Arniesays TMZ … the actress, known to fans around the world as Berta, was recently transferred to a long-term care facility after more than 4 weeks in the ICU. She landed in the hospital in May after feeling ill. We are told that the disease was related to an infection that she fought in December / January.
But, things quickly went south while Conchata was in the ICU. Arnie tells us that he had only spent a couple of days there when Conchata suffered cardiac arrest, which he said lasted about 10 minutes. He’s now in a treatment center that Arnie describes as a respiratory unit … where Conchata is on a respirator and dialysis. We are told that he is stable and semi-conscious, as he is somewhat aware of his surroundings, but cannot speak or communicate.
TMZ revealed the story … Conchata spent weeks in the ICU after battling near-fatal disease. Things were so bad … the actress was bedridden after leaving the hospital and it took weeks before she could get back on her feet.
As if things couldn’t be sadder, Arnie tells us that he talks to Conchata’s nurse frequently, but that he can’t visit her due to COVID-19. To be clear … Conchata does NOT suffer from coronavirus.
At this point, the future of Conchata is unclear. Arnie tells us, “It will be a while before there is a recovery. Everything is neurological. There is nothing we can do to speed up the process. We hope for the best.”
