TWEWY Anime will launch worldwide in 2021


When the key art of Anime Expo 2020 was revealed, it involved characters from The world ends with you posed with the original characters of the event. We found out later that this was because Square Enix intended to reveal a The world ends with you: animation series at the event. Now, the countdown on your site has finished and the panel has appeared. A TWEWY The anime series will have a worldwide release in 2021. The Square Enix staff of the game will participate in the project, including the original Japanese supporting actors.

On the panel, game producer Tomohiko Hirano, director Tatsuya Kando, character designer Gen Kobayashi, and composer Takeharu Ishimoto appeared and confirmed that they are involved. (Kazuya Ichikawa will be the director). Hirano pointed out that they always expected a TWEWY the anime would appear even while the game is developing for the first time. Kando also said that they had hardware, memory and budget restrictions at the time and that they wanted to put the anime in the game, but couldn’t. Kobayashi said it had been two years since he had drawn TWEWY art, before the key art of Anime Expo 2020 was designed.

Ishimoto also said that he completed 90% of the music for the project and that he is working for the anime, just as he did for the game. He also said he wanted to do something new this time for the anime when he was talking about the song that was heard during the start of the reveal panel.

  • Beat will be voiced by Subaru Kimura
  • The rhyme will be voiced by Ayana Taketatsu
