A spokesman for the UN Secretary General, Farhan Haq, said in a statement about the missile attack carried out by Armenia in Ganja, that Secretary General Antonio Guterres is deeply concerned about the ongoing conflict.
Noting that Guterres had a telephone conversation with the Armenian Foreign Minister, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, and the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, Ceyhun Bayramov, and gave a clear message to both parties about the full implementation of the ceasefire, Haq stated that the UN is ready to receive humanitarian aid and to work with the parties if requested.
According to AA news; Noting that the civilian population bears the burden of the clashes that have lasted three weeks, Haq said: “We strongly condemn any targeting and attack against areas where civilians live.”
Reminding the parties of the responsibility to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure under international law, Haq called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to reduce tension, avoid any actions that increase conflict and destabilize the region, and return to the negotiations without delay under the supervision of the co-chairs of the Minsk Group of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). .
Azerbaijan’s General Prosecutor’s Office announced that 12 civilians were killed and more than 40 people injured in the Armenian-organized missile attack on Ganja.
