When the project is completed, the existing road will be shortened by approximately 1 kilometer and high geometric standards and comfortable transportation will be provided. This will save time and fuel and contribute to the economy.

The new Kömürhan Connecting Bridge and Tunnel, which has an important place in terms of logistics as a crossing point for 16 provinces on the East-West axis, will also contribute to the socio-economic development of the region and the country by facilitating access to the tourist and commercial centers with their fast and safe traffic flow.

TWO SIDES OF THE BRIDGE COMBINED WITH THE INSTALLATION OF THE LAST SEGMENT

The last 6-meter span was also assembled from the 25 (380-meter) steel span ranging between 48 tons and 344 tons, which forms the middle span of the modern bridge, 660 meters long and 23 meters wide, all done with local technology, domestic engineering and labor. Thus, both sides of the bridge were united. The welding process is said to take 15 days.

The manufacture of cable 42 has also been completed for the new Kömürhan bridge with taut curved cable, which is the fourth in its field in the world with its only tower as an inverted tower and its average span is 380 meters.

Once the steel fabrications of the bridge have been completed, the laying of a 2.5-millimeter thick insulation layer will begin to increase the resistance of the steel fabrications against external effects and corrosion.

The 4,800-meter double tube Kömürhan Tunnel, each of which is 2,400 meters long, including the final concrete lining, has been completed.

7 TONS OF STEEL WERE USED IN ITS MANUFACTURING

With the completion of the Kömürhan Bridge Connection Road and Tunnel Construction Project, 1 million 750 thousand cubic meters of soil, 180 thousand cubic meters of concrete, 6 thousand tons of iron, 6 thousand 650 tons of steel manufacturing, 920 tons of stretched curved cable, 210 tons of post-tensioned steel, 120 thousand tons 73 thousand tons of asphalt work will have been carried out with the plant-mix foundation.

In the bridge where 7 thousand tons of steel are used in its production, the welding length used for the assembly of the steel fabrications is approximately 450 kilometers and the length of the cable that provides the connection of the tower of the steel segments it is 853 kilometers.

The new Kömürhan connecting bridge and tunnel is scheduled to come into service later this year with the completion of connecting roads and secondary works.
