Turkey will be poor in water in 2030

After climatic temperatures in Istanbul were above seasonal norms and months without rain, occupation rates at the dams decreased to the lowest level in the last 10 years. According to data from İSKİ, the occupation rate of dams in Istanbul fell to the level of 20.93 percent.

By saying that the effects of climate change are increasing, meteorological expert Prof. Dr. Orhan Sen, Turkey has 700 thousand cubic meters of water per capita annually, the amount of water per capita is now starting to decrease to less than a thousand meters cubic and 700 cubic meters, he warned that in 2030 it will fall.

In Turkey’s water-scarce countries in 2030, Sen said there would be a minimum 60 percent occupancy rate for dams coming into the summer, adding that the need to reach fullness.

“LET’S GO TOWARDS TWO SEASONAL WEATHER”

Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen spoke as follows:

“Global warming has an effect on the climate. It causes climate change. The effects of climate change have begun to be seen more in the region we are in. The increase in natural disasters has also begun to manifest themselves. An increase in one degree increases natural disasters by 30%. The average temperature increase in the world has now exceeded 1 degree. Temperature increase if there is 4 degrees, which is a very significant increase. Then Turkey will enter the tropical climate . In this case we are even going to the current semi-arid climate. We have come out of the 4 seasons. The transitional season of autumn and spring completely collapsed and It was reduced to 1 month. This is because we left the Mediterranean climate and moved towards a climate semi-arid. We are moving towards a climate with two seasons. Summers will be hot and dry, winters will be hot and rainy. “

“THE THIRD DROUGHT AWAITS US”

“The world population in 1900 was 1 billion, currently 8 billion in production. It started with enough water. Turkey’s annual amount of water for every 1,700 cubic meters. It started to fall below 1,000 cubic meters now. We had enough for us our water, but no, then rich water. Now, we are starting to become water-scarce countries. We will fall to 700 cubic meters in 2030, then the water will be poor. We see climate change due to the recent decline in rains in Turkey.

If it rains a little somewhere in the world, it rains a lot somewhere. We divide the drought into three. The first is due to meteorological drought and low rainfall. It began to show its effects since January of last year. After that, we move towards hydrological drought. What this is is that the water is reduced in rivers and lakes. We started to see this type of drought as well. Like the occupation rate of the dams in Istanbul dropping to 20 percent.

After that, a third drought awaits us. A more insidious drought, which is agricultural drought. Agricultural drought will cause low yields. We will see the effects of this in the spring, during the harvest season. Socio-economic problems are related to agricultural drought. “

“THE RISK IS TOO HIGH”

“In agriculture, we have to think about this now. We have to go towards agricultural products that do not require water. How much it will rain in January, February and March. Models do not show that it will rain too much. In this case, we will remain in a position to handle the current situation. With an occupancy rate of 60 percent in early summer. We need to get in to be comfortable. The decrease in winter rainfall shows the effects of summer. It means that we will install headphones in the summer of that year. So we are now in a situation where the risk is very high. Measures had to be taken in the height of summer.
