Although the defendants did not attend the hearing held at the 50th Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance, İbrahim Yurttepe, the complainant’s lawyer Hakan Yılmaz and his wife Elif Yılmaz, were present in the room. “The person who started the attack, Denizhan Vural and the other defendants are prone to committing crimes, so we demand punishment from the upper limit. They attacked my client and his wife in front of the eyes of the people,” he said İbrahim Yurttepe, lawyer for the Yılmaz family.

In Denizhan Vural’s statement, the chairman of the board of directors of the Vuralhan Group, stated that the incident took place due to the insult and oath of Hakan Yılmaz.
SAVCI ANNOUNCED ITS CALL
The prosecutor for the trial announced his opinion on 3 defendants. Mütlaada demanded that the defendant Mahsar Algün be sentenced to between 4 months and 1 year in prison for “deliberate injuries” against Hakan Yılmaz. Defendant Erdal Gökçe was sentenced to 2 years 9 months to 7 years and 4 months in prison for ‘Insult’ and ‘Threat’ against Hakan Yılmaz and his wife, while 3 years for ‘Intentional Injury’, ‘Insult’ and ‘Threat ‘for the defendant Denizhan Vural, who requested a sentence of 7 months to 9 years and 10 months in prison. The court board adjourned the hearing allowing time for the defendants to prepare their defense against the opinion.
ACCUSATION
Hakan Yılmaz and his wife were beaten on December 6, 2017 in the lobby of a hotel in Etiler. Stating that he was attacked in the hotel, Yılmaz and his wife filed a complaint with the prosecution about those who mistreated them. As part of the investigation, the Istanbul Prosecutor General’s Office filed a lawsuit against the defendants Denizhan Vural, Erdal Gökçe and Mahsar Algül on charges of “insult”, “simple injury” and “threat” separately from 2 to 5 years and 6 months.

Hakan Yılmaz shared his experiences with his followers on his social media account: “The night before, when I went to the lobby of the Hotel Etiler Le Meridien, where I went with my wife, ‘Did you know me?’ I replied to the person who asked ‘I could not recognize’. Faced with this response, the person who said ‘How can you not know me?’, Cursed and insulted along with my wife, then hit me and my husband along with his two friends. After the incident in which my wife was injured, we went to the police station with the assault report and complained. Meanwhile, the insults and threats against me, my wife and my partner who came with us continued. My lawyer has taken legal action. Just because I said ‘I don’t know’ in the heart of the city, and I don’t accept such an attack with my wife, I won’t! No one is above the law!
