WHO has no role in confirming a vaccine, treatment or diagnosis. Our job is to share evidence and provide guidance. Each country has an independent regulatory agency. The approval or non-approval of vaccines is at the discretion of these organizations, especially in emergencies.
* Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, regulatory agencies in many countries granted emergency use permits for vaccines, treatments, and tests. WHO COVAX vaccine manufacturers share data with both WHO and others. We have received the data for the second phase for the Chinese vaccine, but we have not received the data for the third phase yet. However, the Chinese vaccine uses the inactivated virus PH method, which has been used for many years and is a reliable method.

While vaccines are available for use, it can take months for everyone to agree to the vaccine. Also, the vaccine alone does not save lives, vaccination saves lives.
