US State Department spokesman Ned Price made a statement regarding the events taking place at Boğaziçi University.
According to Reuters news, Price said: “We are concerned about the detention of students and protesters” and said: “We strongly condemn hate speech against sexual minorities.”
UN: WE CONDEMN ADVERTISEMENTS THAT PROMOTE HATE
The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (BMCHR) called for the release of the students detained during the Melih Bulu protests at Boğaziçi University:
* We call for the immediate release of students and protesters detained for participating in peaceful demonstrations and an end to the disproportionate use of force by the police.
The United Nations condemned the statements of politicians directed at LGBT people and issued a statement: “We condemn the homophobic and transphobic statements of the authorities that promote hatred and discrimination against LGBT people.”
