In the past 5 days, 16 people were taken to Çekirge State Hospital and Municipal Hospital after being poisoned with fake alcohol. Mehmet İncili (51), Sümer Çam (51), İrfan Çivi (39) and Mehmet Süpürgeci (62) lost their lives. Erhan Okumuşoğlu and Uğur Kökkoparan, who were detained by teams from the Provincial Security Directorate Directorate of the Public Security Subdivision, were arrested on Wednesday, accused of “causing the death of more than one person” by the court to which they were taken.
ORDER 1 TON OF FALSE ALCOHOL BEFORE BEING CAPTURED
As part of the investigation, teams from the Office for the Fight against Smuggling and Organized Crime examined the phone calls of detainee Uğur Kökkoparan. The teams determined that Kökkoparan ordered 1 ton of fake alcohol from the Çorlu district of Tekirdağ before being arrested. Upon reaching the information that the fake alcohol was brought into the city by cargo, the teams yesterday raided the cargo branch in the Çalı district of the Nilüfer district. In the raid, a total of 1 tonne of counterfeit alcohol was seized in the drums of the cargo branch prior to marketing.

Based on the statements of Erhan Okumuşoğlu and Uğur Kökkoparan, the police teams also arrested Muhammet Haksever (42), Birkan Başak (44) and Mesut Güler. Muhammet Haksever, who lives in Tekirdağ’s Çorlu district, Birkan Başak, who runs a monopoly merchant in Bursa, and Mesut Güler, who found himself working with prisoner Uğur Kökkoparan, were taken to the police for questioning. 3 suspects, who were sent to court yesterday after their actions at the police station, were arrested and sent to prison for the crime of “causing the death of more than one person through negligence.”
REGISTERED THE SELLER AS ‘ETİLCİ’
Telephone correspondence emerged with Uğur Kökkoparan, one of the suspects from whom Mehmet Süpürgeci, one of the deceased, provided counterfeit alcohol. It was determined that Kökkoparan sent a message to Mehmet Süpürgeci on his cell phone on December 13, “Good morning brother. I will send the order soon.”
Kökkoparan, who was determined to deliver the orders by courier, was found to be listed as ‘Etilci’ in the Süpügeci phone book.

On the other hand, after Mehmet Süpürgeci was poisoned, the moments when he left his house on the street were reflected in the security cameras of the surrounding workplaces. In the pictures, Mehmet Süpürgeci, who lost consciousness from the effect of the drink, asks for help from the owner of the workplace in front of his house. The moments when the incoming medical teams made the first intervention to Mehmet Süpürgeci and were taken to the ambulance were recorded by security cameras.
‘HE SAID YOUR EYES CAN’T SEE’
The merchant Ercan Erdal, who claimed that he helped Mehmet Süpürgeci and informed the medical team, said: “Brother Mehmet came to the door around 4pm. He bought fake drinks. He lost his life because he bought fake drinks, despite of all the interventions made. He said he did not see it. I immediately called the 112 crews. 112 crews came but could not save themselves despite all the interventions. Unfortunately, fake alcohol kills people this way.
