The Kosovo Special Prosecutor’s Office in The Hague, the Netherlands, announced that former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci was brought to The Hague and detained after his resignation.

Accusations were prepared against former UCK names
Thaci announced his resignation today after the court accepted the war crimes indictment prepared by the Kosovo Special Prosecutor in The Hague.
Krasniqi was arrested on 4 November in an operation in cooperation with the Kosovo Special Prosecutor’s Office, the EU Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) and the Kosovo Police.
Furthermore, the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Kosovo in The Hague announced that an indictment had been prepared against Recep Selimi, a former UCK commander.
The Hague special prosecutor’s office prepared an indictment against Thaci and the former Speaker of Parliament Veseli on June 24 for committing “crimes against humanity” and “war crimes” during the Kosovo war (1998-1999) and presented to the competent special court.
While the individuals named in the indictment were alleged to be responsible for the deaths of 100 people, the suspects were also reportedly charged with war crimes such as murder, exile and torture.
Chambers and Special Prosecutor’s Office of Kosovo
The special court, also known as the Extraordinary Chambers and the Special Prosecutor’s Office of Kosovo, and its private prosecutor’s office were established in 2011.
This judicial body, created to investigate and prosecute war crimes allegedly committed in the region between 1998-2000, is made up of international judges and prosecutors.
The special prosecutor’s office in The Hague, Netherlands, has invited dozens of former members of the Kosovo Liberation Army (UCK) to testify since the beginning of 2019.
In 2019, the court called Ramush Haradinaj, one of Kosovo’s former prime ministers, to testify as a “suspect”, after which Haradinaj resigned from his post.
