The issue is my hand as a result of the accident; It has been determined that 10 of our heroic companions in the helicopter were martyred and 3 of our heroic companions were injured. ”
After the accident, 28 soldiers were martyred in 3 accidents in which the AS532 Cougar helicopters of joint Franco-German design, which have served in the Land Forces since 1996, were previously involved in our country. With today’s accident, the number of martyrs increased to 38.
21 SOLDIERS MAY CARRY
In the first stage, 20 AS532s were purchased, which it was decided to buy in 1993. Helicopters manufactured in France began to be delivered to the Land Forces in 1996. This was followed by a second purchase agreement in 1995. Of the 30 AS532s produced in TAI facilities in Ankara, 20 were handed over to the Air Force for search and rescue, and the remainder to the Ground Forces.
The AS532 Cougars, capable of carrying a total of 21 fully equipped soldiers, have a range of 842 kilometers. It can accelerate to 278 kilometers per hour. The twin-engine helicopter flight crew consists of two pilots and a technician.
