The fishermen who sailed to the Black Sea the night before to the city of İğneada returned to shore with tons of bonito that they caught. The abundance of bonito in the Black Sea was reflected in the fishing stalls in Edirne and found buyers for 10 lire each. The beautiful newspapers arriving at the fishermen’s stalls on Balıkpazarı Street in the city made both artisans and citizens smile. Some citizens bought at the cash register because the acorn was fresh.
‘THERE IS MANY ABUNDANCE IN THE BLACK SEA’
Feridun Biztiren, one of the traders from Balıkpazarı, stated that the acorns arriving at the stalls were increasingly satisfactory in terms of weight compared to the previous weeks. Biztiren said: “Today the bonito is abundant, it is also cheap and its weights have increased. Before we sold it for 10 lire, but its weight was around 300-400 grams, now one of the fish is around 700-750 grams, some close to a kilo and 10 lire each. “There really are a lot of fish in the Black Sea,” he said.
‘THIS FISH WILL NOT FALL AGAIN FOR THIS MONEY’
Stating that citizens should evaluate cheapness, Biztiren said: “This is the time for fish. We recommend that our citizens take advantage of these opportunities. This fish will never fall on this money again. A fish that comfortably fits two people. 10 lira “. 10 lira for toast. 700 grams of fish here is 10 lira. They are fresh fish caught at night, “he said.
Fisherman Hamza Köksoy said that they expected the bonito to be plentiful and that they were very happy. Köksoy, “There is an abundance of bonito. We were already waiting for it. I hope it is even more abundant, both citizens eat a lot of fish and we sell a lot of fish. We expect prices to drop even more,” he said.
HANGED THRACE STYLE LABELS
The Edirne fishermen, who were happy with the abundance of bonito, put Thracian-style price tags on their stalls. While writing ‘Nice, what İsek Oyuz Beya’ on a fishing bank, another fisherman wrote ‘This is Da Happened, Adana’s Diil, Ada’s’. The humorous labels also made citizens smile.
