The countries of the European Union (EU), which closed their borders in March due to the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19), updated the list of countries where travel restrictions were lifted.
The European Council has published the latest version of the list of “recommended” countries to lift travel restrictions, last updated on 22 October.
According to the list, the EU’s external borders, which were completely closed in March as part of the epidemic measures, will gradually be opened to Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Rwanda, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand.
If EU countries grant their citizens a travel permit, the borders will also be open to China.
EU countries travel restrictions for all non-listed countries will continue.
On the other hand, the list will be updated again according to the situation of Covid-19 in the countries and the restrictive measures.
In this case, the UK, which is not included in the list and officially left the EU, will also be restricted to travel until the end of the transition period applied until the end of the year.
TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS
In March, the EU imposed non-mandatory travel restrictions on 27 member states, as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, which are part of the Schengen area, to prevent the spread of the epidemic.
The list, which is not binding on member countries, has the character of a “recommendation”.
