The incident occurred around 04:30 in the Women’s Psychiatry Service of the Hospital for Diseases and Mental Health in İlyasköy district of İlkadım district. The hospital staff took Arife K. under observation in another room. Following the notification, the police teams took Arife K. to the Murder Office for a statement. It was learned that Arife K., in her statement to the police, claimed that Nadiye Yıldız had drowned her because she feared he would kill her. Arife K., who was sent to court after his testimony, was sent back to the hospital to determine if he had a criminal license or not. An investigation was launched into the incident.
