The whole world is saddened when Argentine soccer legend Diego Armando Maradona dies at home where he was treated for heart and lung problems. The Cuban Foreign Ministry also shared a post for the Argentine legend.

Recalling that Maradona, a close friend of the iconic Cuban leader Fidel Castro, died on November 25, like Castro, expressions of “History asked them to be on the same day” were used.

Maradona, who met Fidel Castro on his first visit to Cuba in 1986, was later treated for drug addiction in Cuba. Describing Castro, Maradona said: “He was like a second father to me. He opened the doors of Cuba when there were clinics that closed their doors to me in my country.”

Maradona underwent brain surgery in early November and was discharged after 8 days. Maradona, one of the best players in the history of football, won the 1986 FIFA World Cup with the Argentine National Team and won the league championship with the Italian club Napoli twice.
