Latest news .. In the statement made by the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, it was announced that the Azerbaijani army entered Lachin in accordance with the ceasefire agreement signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia under the mediation of Russia.

Lachin, located on the border with Armenia, was one of the first targets of the Armenian forces in the war in the 1990s, due to the strategic importance of the road called “Lachin corridor”, which is the only road between Nagorno -Karabakh and Armenia, and was occupied on May 18, 1992.

In the operation launched by the Azerbaijani army on September 27, Armenia accepted defeat following the liberation of 5 urban centers, 4 towns and 286 villages, and signed an agreement promising to evacuate the occupied provinces of Aghdam, Lachin and Kelbajar.

The Armenian army withdrew from Aghdam on November 20 and from Kalbajar on November 25.

POLITICAL CRISIS IN ARMENIA

After the defeat of Karabakh, a political crisis broke out in Armenia. People took to the streets in many cities, especially the capital Yerevan, and demanded Pashinyan’s resignation.

On the day that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that he accepted Azerbaijan’s terms, many Armenians stormed the government building and severely beat many officials, including the Speaker of the Assembly.

Deep cracks occurred in the pashinyan cabinet. Critical figures such as Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan and Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan resigned from their positions.
