The scientists reported that they found an organ in the skull that had not been identified before.

In the article published in the journal Radiotherapy and Oncology, it was claimed that scientists who scanned human body tissues with a high resolution machine found a pair of large salivary glands in the skull, stuck in the area where the nasal cavity is with the throat.

Dr Matthijs Valstar from the Dutch Cancer Institute’s research team, ‘“There are only three main types of salivary glands in any modern anatomy book: near the ears, under the chin, and under the tongue. Now we think there is a fourth. “ used the expression.

Valstar noted that the newly discovered salivary gland can act as a “replacement organ” for salivary glands damaged by radiation therapy.
