In the incident that took place in front of the Central Private Hospital located at Güzeller Mahallesi Yeni Bağdat Caddesi in the Gebze district of Kocaeli, the citizen named Sebahattin Duru (60) fell ill and collapsed. Citizens who saw Duru getting worse yelled at the hospital staff and called for help. Hospital staff said they couldn’t intervene because Duru was not at the hospital. The citizens then, while watching those moments with their mobile phones, on the other hand, called the 112 emergency help line and asked for help. Despite all the interventions carried out in the ambulance by the medical teams that came to the scene after being notified, Duru could not save himself and died. Duru’s body was taken to the morgue for an autopsy examination. While it was learned that Duru’s relatives would file a criminal complaint for the incident, it was determined that Duru died of a heart attack in autopsy examinations conducted at the Istanbul Institute of Forensic Medicine.
It was learned that after the incident entered the agenda, the Kocaeli Provincial Health Directorate initiated an investigation.
