Hacettepe University School of Medicine, Head of the Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Dr. Mehmet Ceyhan made statements on his Twitter account about the mutated coronavirus. Using the expression “There is nothing to worry about yet”, Ceyhan also warned “We must be careful as always”.
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ceyhan shared the following information about the mutated virus:
‘NOT CONFIRMED WITH CLINICAL DATA THAT IT IS MORE INFECTIOUS’
For a few days, everyone has been in a rush for the emergence of the new mutant corona virus (B.1.1.7) in the UK. There is still no reason for pessimism. Why;
1. The finding that pollution has increased by 70% is just a modeling result for now. Clinical and laboratory data have not yet confirmed that it is even more infectious.
2. It is natural for countries to take precautions, because the spread of the virus should be avoided until the characteristics of the virus are fully understood, that is, it is clear that it does not cause more infectious and serious diseases.
MUTATION CAN END WITH PANDEM
3. If this mutation is spreading faster than the original virus, it could also be the beginning of the mutation that we are waiting for the epidemic to end. Because we hope that the virus will become more contagious but harmless with that mutation. So the first change may have occurred.
Four. However, if there is a mutation in the direction we do not want, we will try to prevent the virus from spreading. As a result, we are not yet at a point to worry. We must be careful as always.
