Prison evacuations started in Istanbul and Ankara

After the law on the implementing regulation adopted in the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey was published and enforced in the Official Gazette, evacuations began on the Ankara Open Penal Institutions Campus.

The convicts were put on buses and left the prison. In the vicinity of the prison, while the police teams were taking intense security measures, it was observed that the evacuees obeyed the rule of social distance and wore masks.

Those who were evacuated from the Maltepe Criminal Institutions Campus were taken out on buses.

Intensive security measures were taken around the prison. IETT buses, prison minibuses and buses belonging to HAVATAŞ were found to wear masks in accordance with the social distance rule.

Legislative proposals relating to the implementing regulation, was adopted by the Turkish National Assembly. Within the scope of the adopted law, those convicted in coronavirus open criminal enforcement institutions and those sentenced to probation will be considered licensed until May 31, 2020.

If the outbreak continues, this period can be extended 3 times for 2 months. Convicts who have reached the age of 65 who cannot survive alone due to serious illness, disability, or my husband will also benefit from probation.

With the law, the release of 90,000 prisoners will be opened, while the trial period will be extended to 3 years for once. Terrorism, murder, drugs and sexual crimes will be excluded.
