President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the opening ceremony of the Kömürhan Bridge, which he attended via video conference from the Vahdettin mansion in Istanbul.
The highlights of Erdogan’s statements are as follows:
This project (Kömürhan Bridge), whose construction cost is 720 million lire, is one of the most important points of the east-west and north-south transport axis of our country, beyond connecting Elazig and Malatya. Built with 100 percent national and national resources, from design to construction, this work will be one of the symbols of the power and capabilities of our country in the field of engineering.
The Kömürhan Bridge is the fourth largest project in the world in its group. This bridge will save time and fuel. The project will contribute to the development and prosperity of the region. With the investments we have made and the works we have built, we have made the Fırat a symbol of reunion, joy, affection and prosperity, and we will continue to contribute. We are determined to create a climate in which we can achieve our goals more easily.

We have changed the face of our region in every field, from divided highway to rail to air, investing 8.8 billion lira in Malatya and 6 billion lira in Elazig. In our country there still exists a mentality that has made it a philosophy to speak of principles and not produce anything. We seek to produce services, produce works and build even in the most difficult conditions.
FIGHT THE CROWN VIRUS
We mobilize our state’s means to protect our nation’s health, its job, its vaccine, and its future. Despite the epidemic conditions that gripped the entire world, we did not compromise the service policy in 2020, which we left behind. Hopefully by April at the latest, we will have our own vaccines ready to go as development work continues rapidly. I believe that we will exceed an important threshold in the fight against the epidemic with the introduction of vaccines that we obtain from abroad. We want to make 2021 a new year of progress in all fields. We are making great preparations for this. In a period when the global political and economic system is radically shaken, we must work much harder together to get our country to the place it deserves.

Minister Karaismailoğlu made the following statements in his speech:
