Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, of the Turkish Congress and Culture Center Bestepe Nations Insurance Advertisement, attended the ceremony.
The highlights of Erdogan’s speech here are as follows:
“Since its creation, the Endowment Fund has reached a solid structure with 20 companies from 8 different sectors. We are implementing the strategic move that I believe will bring a new vision to our insurance industry. We are implementing the largest insurance company in our country that will serve 15 million customers.
Our six well-established public equity institutions are coming together under one roof. Costs will decrease and the sector will gain a dynamic structure. Working with a mindset that prioritizes the public interest, the new structure will also eliminate the innovation gap from the system.
Many states were caught off guard by this epidemic. States that are financially superior to us faced difficulties in many areas of public health and safety needs. The world has entered a new era in which nothing will be the same. We still feel many consequences of the epidemic in many areas.
In the first half of 2020, there have been global production losses and changes in the scope of consumption. Downward revisions were made to the global growth forecast. The data shows that major economies such as the United States, Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom were shaken by the impact of the epidemic.
In the first quarter, the 4.4 percent growth in the second quarter with Turkey’s 9.9’luk percent rate of contraction dissociated from those countries. Our support programs have a great contribution to this. In the epidemic, neither our healthcare system collapsed nor our economy came to a complete halt. We did not fall into the trap of the opposition that constantly instills pessimism in our nation. Turkey is a cold-blooded way in which we manage the process instead of making impulsive decisions out of touch with reality.
“WE FEEL LESS”
The ancients say that traces of floods remain. There is no way out of this epidemic without damage. It is a fact that this process also negatively affects us. However, we feel this effect less than in other countries. In the period when investments around the world came to a halt, we accelerated our investments. We put our economy back on track.
Throughout history, those who could not bend the wrist of our country in the diplomatic, defense and military fields have always embraced the economy as a weapon. Our country has lived through the days when interest rates rose to 7,500 percent overnight. There were times when we were in danger of not being able to pay the salaries of civil servants. We remember the days when we opened our hands at the doors of the IMF. Our economy, which was taken to a spiral of exchange rate, interest and inflation, skidded with crises that recur every 10 years. With the reforms that we have implemented since 2002, we avoid wasting resources and time in the economy. By paying off the IMF’s debt of 23.5 billion dollars, we have gained the economic independence of our country.
After the coup attempt on July 15, we entered a new era in the economy. If we can defend the rights and laws of our country, behind it is the confidence in ourselves that we have gained in the last 18 years. We said that we will never be the government knocking on the IMF door. But the IMF knocked on our door. We are determined not to feed our country’s resources into circles fueled by crisis and chaos. Turkey is engaged in closed-door negotiations with the IMF will not allow a return to the old days.
“WE WILL GET STRONGER FROM THE OUTBREAK”
The epidemic has also opened up new opportunities. I hope that our country comes out of the epidemic process by strengthening the economy along with other areas. To do this, our nation must take precautions. We call on our nation to comply with the cleanliness, mask and distance measures that we have taglied out by saying “TaMaM” once again. In this period, give up these wedding and dinner ceremonies. Let’s get through this period by finishing these jobs with wedding ceremonies. “
