President Erdogan, who went from Van to Izmir to conduct examinations in the earthquake area, made statements at the AFAD Coordination Center about the latest earthquake situation.
Highlights from President Erdogan’s statements:
* As you know, we had an earthquake in the Aegean Sea on 51:14. As of now, we have 37 deaths. We have 885 wounded. 667 of them are registered. The treatment of our 218 citizens is ongoing. There are 8 intensive care units. Among them, we have 3 seriously ill patients. The number of our citizens who have been rescued from the rubble so far is 103.
* All this process, especially our President of Parliament, Vice President, Minister of Health, Transport, Energy and Natural Resources, Culture and Tourism, Family and Social Policies, Forest Agriculture, Minister of National Education, Environment and Urbanization, Minister of the Interior, Due to health problems, the deputy process is following.
* Our President of Religious Affairs, our Red Crescent, our AFAD have been here as institutions. Our governor of İzmir coordinated the process constantly in contact with me. Our mayor was also involved in the process.
* One of my deputy friends, Izmir MP Binali Yıldırım, followed the process closely. My friends, the deputies from Izmir, and my friends, the vice presidents, took over the areas where the shipwrecks were present and followed them.
* As the Armed Forces, our Chief of Staff closely followed the work. Since the Minister of National Defense was abroad, he was unable to participate in the process. 7 cargo planes belonging to the General Staff completed a complete mission.

“WE SEND 24 MILLION ASSIGNMENTS TO DATE”
* AFAD served here with three mobile coordination vehicles, one from Sakarya, Bursa and Afyon, with its TIR. 35 mobile base stations have been dispatched to the region, 25 of which are already installed.
* On top of all this, we have shipped 24 million rights so far. According to the need, the request to be made under the coordination of our governor and the request of our ministers is questioned.
* Here, we are conducting intensive studies to provide reserve areas. With these works in the reserve area, our wreck removal work will continue rapidly.
* On the one hand, where there is a reserve, our Ministry of the Environment and Urbanization will quickly take action according to these studies. Hopefully we will evaluate the Elazig and Malatya experience here.
“WE WILL START THE CONSTRUCTION WORKS AFTER THE WITHDRAWAL OF THE KINGS”
* With the reserve areas, we will immediately begin construction works after removal of the rubble and hopefully we will quickly build these houses for our citizens whose houses were destroyed in this rubble and move our citizens to these places as soon as possible .
* During this period, we will ensure that our citizens, who find rental houses in different places, settle there, provided that they pay the rental price personally. We will not have the slightest hassle paying our citizens who have damaged their belongings for the supply of their household goods and their expenses by our Ministry of the Environment, Urbanization, Family and Social Policies.
* We did this in Elazig and Malatya. We have containers in our hands. By placing them in appropriate locations, we can take action by giving our citizens a chance to live.

“WE KEEP SCHOOLS CLOSED THIS WEEK”
* We have preparations on the subject, we do not hesitate. AFAD and Kızılay have the opportunity to satisfy all kinds of food and other needs.
* Thank you, the weather is good right now. We will seize this opportunity and operate this process. During the week, the Minister of National Education made a statement, we will keep schools closed this week.
* If you ask what the situation will be after a week, you can extend it if you want to extend it by evaluating our Ministry of National Education, if it says “let’s continue education”, we will continue.
* We have bedrooms. We have the facilities to accommodate families in our bedrooms. If our citizens say that we can stay in student residences, we have the opportunity to host them under the coordination of the governor’s office and under the coordination of AFAD. We have a lot of bedroom capacity here.
* Kızılay and AFAD have brought about 3 thousand tents and now they are ready. Some of our citizens are already housed in these tents. With these tents, we have overcome the serious problem.

“RECEIVE YOUR MESSAGES FROM 88 COUNTRIES HAVE ARRIVED”
* Thanks to the different countries of the world, there are leaders of countries who are constantly looking for us. We have meetings with these leaders. I personally had telephone conversations with some country leaders, there are telegrams that we receive from some.
* They received messages for the prompt recovery of Bulgarian Prime Minister Borisov, Greek Prime Minister Miçotakis, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and TRNC President of 88 countries.
* I thank you all on my behalf, my delegation and my nation. I wish God’s mercy to my citizens who died again, and I wish my Lord’s healing to my brothers and injured citizens. I say that my Lord will protect us from such misfortunes. On behalf of my delegation, I offer my respect and love to all my citizens.
EXAMINED THE BUILDING THAT IT COLLECTED IN EARTHQUAKE
President Erdogan came to the Rıza Bey apartment in Bayraklı, which was destroyed after the earthquake, and made observations. President Erdogan left the area after receiving information from the teams.
