The regulation that requires contractors to build at least one parking lot for each floor of the new apartments was postponed for the seventh time by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.

The parking requirement, which should normally apply from June 1, 2018, has been extended until March 31, 2021 with the regulation published in the Official Gazette.

According to the report of Sözcü Erdoğan Süzer; With the new regulation, which was published for the first time on February 22, 2018, but the application date was set to June 1, 2018, the obligation to make 1 parking lot for every 3 homes was changed to ‘1 parking for 1 Department’.

According to the regulation, on plots with a front garden width of at least 7 meters, there will be an open parking lot in the front garden, provided that at least 2 meters away from the building. As long as it is underground, under all the side and rear gardens, and under the front garden up to 3 meters from the road, there will be full parking.

Buildings where a car cannot be parked will need to show a spot from another parking lot within walking distance, and this will be noted on the title deed. In this way, building permits and building permits will not be granted to buildings that do not reserve parking spaces.

The regulation, which said it would fix the parking problem, especially in metropolitan cities, was published despite objection from contractors. However, so far it has not been possible to implement it.

The regulation, which should normally begin to be implemented as of June 1, 2018, was modified one day earlier and postponed until January 1, 2019. New application dates are constantly changing and are postponed until June 30, 2019, December 31, 2019, March 31, 2020, June 30, 2020, and December 31, 2020. The latest new date was announced March 31, 2021.
