What happened?
In his December 27 article, Hürriyet columnist Fatih Çekirge claimed that an anonymous CHP wanted a Muğla deputy to call Gültekin’s father, Sıddık Gültekin, to drop the case.
Çekirge also wrote that Cemal Metin Avcı’s mother was in the party district administration in Muğla and resigned after the incident.
A day later, Rezan Epözdemir, the family’s lawyer, stated that Sıddık Gültekin had said that she had received such a phone call and, when they looked at her WhatsApp profile, they confirmed that she was a deputy.
CHP Group Vice President Özgür Özel stated that they had met with four MPs from Muğla, three of them said they did not know the family and one of them asked for their condolences.
Speaking to AA, CHP Muğla deputy Süleyman Girgin said that Pınar Gültekin’s father, Sıddık Gültekin, was calling the day after the funeral and just wanted his condolences.
