It was announced that the doctor who made the first intervention in his country to the poisoned Russian opposition leader Aleksey Navalni died.
In a statement made by Omsk Hospital, it was announced that Sergey Maximişin, 55, died suddenly.
No detailed information was provided on the cause of the doctor’s death.
Navalni, 44, fell ill during the flight from Siberia to Moscow on August 20 and the plane made an emergency landing in Omsk.
Navalni, who was announced to have been poisoned with Noviçok nerve gas a few days later, was flown to the German capital Berlin for treatment.
Navalni, who was arrested after returning to Russia on January 17, says Russian President Vladimir Putin gave the order to poison him.
The Kremlin denies the accusations.
Refund of the Berlin prison sentence
Aleksey Navalni’s arrest on the grounds that his return to Berlin violated the conditions of probation triggered a wave of protests in the country.
Thousands of people were arrested in protests organized with the call for Navalni’s release.
On February 2, the court ruled on Navalni’s 3.5-year suspended prison sentence, which he received in 2014 on charges of embezzlement.
The 10-month period Navalni was under house arrest will be deducted from his sentence.
Saying “false” about the accusations against him, Navalni claimed that he wanted to be prevented from participating in the elections in the case in which he was tried for insulting a World War II veteran.

Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, who met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow, said his relations with the Kremlin were at “a low level” after Navalni was punished.
