Naci Görür warning after the Bingöl earthquake: every repeated earthquake is remarkable

Member of the Academy of Sciences Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made statements on his social media account. Referring to the earthquake that occurred in Bingöl, Görür recalled the great earthquakes that occurred earlier in Erzincan and Bingöl and used the following statements;

* 4.1 earthquakes occurred between Bingöl and Karlıova this afternoon. This earthquake did not fall into my information system at TLF. I will give you information on this area.

* The 7.9 Erzincan earthquake occurred here in 1939. This earthquake transferred the stress to the direction of Karlıova. This caused the 7.1 Karlıova earthquake in 1949. Later, with the same mechanism and activation, the 1966 Varto (6.6) and 1971 Bingöl (6.7) earthquakes occurred.

SURPRISING

* But the Yedisu rift between Erzincan-Varto was not broken. The frictional resistance between these fault blocks must be high. But every earthquake in western Varto is extraordinary.
