Süleyman Yıldırım was killed in front of his home in the Gediz district of Kütahya on January 3, 2019. His wife, daughter Çiğdem and son-in-law Süleyman Gürbüz were present at the time of the murder.
The arrested boyfriend Süleyman Gürbüz claimed in his statement that the killing knife was with his father-in-law and that it was stabbed by accident during the fight.
Süleyman Gürbüz, who was in prison for 10 months, accused his wife and mother-in-law in two letters he wrote to Ramazan Yıldırım, his father-in-law’s brother from prison.
After all these developments, Süleyman Yıldırım’s brother, Ramazan Yıldırım, appeared on the retreat program with Didem Arslan Yılmaz and asked for the facts to be revealed.
During the live broadcast, Süleyman Yıldırım’s daughter Çi̇ğdem said for the first time: “I did not see the knife that killed my father.” He said. Then, “My father was between my wife, who had a knife in her hand, and my mother.” He said. At this point, a surprising confession came from Süleyman Gürbüz, whose eyes turned. “I didn’t kill my father-in-law!” Gürbüz, who made a statement, admitted that he had committed the murder under persistent questions from Didem Arslan Yılmaz.
Gürbüz said he got angry and attacked him with a knife during his argument with his mother-in-law, and then stabbed the knife in his hand with his father-in-law Süleyman Yıldırım.

While the broadcast was in progress, the Istanbul Public Security Branch Directorate and the Küçükçekmece District Directorate, which accepted Süleyman Gürbüz’s statements as warning, detained Süleyman Gürbüz on the live broadcast.
Gürbüz was taken to the Küçükçekmece Canarya Police Station to testify.
