The National Education Ministry (MEB) warned students not to respect the positions on the examination processes that were not confirmed by the official sources of the Ministry.
In the statement made on the Ministry’s Twitter account, it was emphasized that the information on the students’ examination processes will be made by the schools and said: “Please do not respect publications that are not confirmed by official sources of our Ministry. . expression was used.
The exchange also included a visual image of unfounded information.
The following baseless post was published on a national education website and reported by Hürriyet newspaper writer Nuran Çakmakçı.
The news on the Hürriyet newspaper website on the subject:
According to the news from Nuran Çakmakçı from Hürriyet; After the schools were gradually opened and diluted as of August 31, the students went to school or stayed at home at the request of their parents and continued their distance education. The absenteeism was not counted as absent, that is, this year the class failure due to absenteeism was filed. As classes continued in schools that had been open for about two months, eyes turned to exams. Millions of students are wondering whether and how to take tests this year.
FACE-TO-FACE EXAMS
While the Minister of National Education, Ziya Selçuk, does not require school attendance, he often gave the message that exams will be conducted face-to-face at the school in accordance with regulations. The examination period in schools has arrived. However, no statement has yet been made on how the first exams, which began in mid-November, will be conducted this year. In some private schools, the exam schedule was announced and some even started taking exams. This week, some schools sent a letter to their parents saying: “In line with the message of the National Directorate of Education of the District, the schedules of the written exams were suspended. For this reason, the exams were suspended as of 23 of October. “Will continue online in other classes.”
2 SCENARIO ON THE AGENDA
After this explanation, I did some research. I found different scenarios in the information I got about school exams that will be face-to-face due to the pandemic.
The first scenario is as follows: The ministry will follow a flexible schedule, especially in elementary and middle schools, in grading applied courses such as music, physical education, and painting. In these classes, grades will most likely be awarded through homework, not through face-to-face tests. The second scenario is as follows: in academic courses such as math, science, Turkish and foreign languages, there will be a face-to-face written exam. As always, it is essential to have at least two exams in these courses.
One of the scenarios that are discussed in the corridors of the Ministry is that one of the two exams of these academic courses is carried out in person at the school. Qualify the second exam as a performance or project. The goal here is to provide comfort to disadvantaged groups.

IF SOMEONE DOES NOT ENTER …
The most important point that the Ministry of National Education gives importance is that each student has two grades for each course from 4th grade. Those who do not take the face-to-face exam will unfortunately not pass this year. If the second semester continues in this way and the student does not take any of the face-to-face exams that are carried out at the school throughout the year, they will repeat the course or remain in the classroom.
HOUSE EXAMINATION IN SPECIAL CASE
Students with special conditions who cannot attend the exam will do so at home if they document it. It is worth repeating that all this is valid in the case of face-to-face and mixed education in current conditions. If new decisions are made according to the course of the pandemic, these conditions will also be rearranged.
THE PRESENTIAL EXAMS WILL BE EXTENDED TO 20-25 DAYS
The face-to-face exams are intended to be distributed over a period of 20-25 days starting on November 15. Schools with large spaces, such as lecture halls and libraries, will be able to take these exams in a few days if they wish. The exams will be done without any intensity. Currently, the number of students in a class will take the test that day. However, all authority will be with the school principals who best know the physical conditions of the school. The ministry left authority entirely to the directors. The only condition is to present the students with the appropriate examination conditions for pandemic conditions.
40 MINUTES OF TIME
Although lessons are limited to 30 minutes this year due to the pandemic, the time allotted for exams will be 40 minutes. There will be a maximum of two exams per day. The same conditions will apply this year as the teacher of each lesson takes the exam under normal conditions. The student will not find anything new that he does not know.
PERFORMANCE OR PROJECT
The Ministry of Education has been measuring the success of students in each course with two exams until today. Since distance education continues this year, some students cannot receive adequate follow-up. Considering that distance education is not efficient for some students and some have learning loss, the possibility of taking the second exam with a performance or project qualification stands out. However, there is still no final decision on this issue. The final decision will be made by the Minister of Education, Ziya Selçuk.
HOLIDAY BREAKFAST NOVEMBER 16-20
The Ministry of Education aims to keep working hours exactly during this challenging educational period. However, an evaluation will take place in the coming days. According to this year’s calendar, there will be a holiday from November 16-20. If all goes well, there will be a pause between these dates.
