Latest news … In Hatay, in 2015, Hamza İpek, who allegedly kissed his girlfriend, was called to his room and scolded by the school principal. Later, İpek jumped from the balcony of the school and was paralyzed. Regarding the incident, the Hatay First Administrative Court determined that the school administration was at fault. The court ruled that the Ministry of National Education (MEB) will pay one million 700 thousand TL in compensation to the student. MEB filed an appeal against the decision on October 12. In the complaint filed with the Presidency of the Gaziantep Regional Administrative Court, it was alleged that the decision on pecuniary and non-pecuniary damages issued by the administrative court was contrary to procedure and the law. In summary, the Ministry conducted the following evaluations in the petition:
‘IT HAS BEEN IMMERSIBLE FOR A MOMENT’
“Here, it is understood that the sad incident took place with a momentary impulsive act of Hamza İpek’s own will. Furthermore, in the investigation of the Kırıkhan Prosecutor General’s Office, it was found that employees of our administration were not at fault. It should be assessed that such interviews conducted by the school administration will take precautions against misbehaviors that students may engage in.
There are two reports prepared by our administration inspectors where the incident that is the subject of the case was investigated. In the first report prepared by our administration’s inspectors, it was determined that our administration was not at fault. However, it is against procedure and law to determine the service defect by making a single reference to an investigation / investigation report made approximately one year after the incident.

‘WE HAVE NO FAULTS’
In the case in question, the statements of the school principal Ayşe Ersoy and teacher Nevin Ayan, who were thought to have caused service defects, should have been used and the case should have been reported and their participation ensured if. Our administration was neither at fault nor negligent in the suicidal act committed by the plaintiff Hamza İpek of his own free will and with a momentary confusion of emotions and his permanent health problems as a consequence of this incident ”.
Speaking to Hürriyet on September 18, 2020, Hamza İpek said that his only wish was to walk, saying: “I need a stem cell transplant to be able to walk. A lot of money is requested for my treatment. My family is poor and cannot afford it. Since I have been sleeping for a long time, my body started getting bedsores. The amount of compensation awarded by the court does not concern me. I just want to walk. I have a 5 TL shoe on my feet, but keep my feet on the ground and I can walk. “
