New vehicles, also called “mini tanks”, will be added to unmanned ground vehicles developed within the Turkish defense industry and offered for use by the security forces.
The use of unmanned systems in the field of defense and security is gradually increasing. Especially in asymmetric war conditions, unmanned systems are needed that can operate on land, sea or air and decide for themselves to carry out exploration-surveillance-intelligence, defense, logistical support and similar activities quickly and effectively without loss of staff.
The Presidency’s Defense Industry Directorate is also carrying out a series of projects to produce and diversify the unmanned ground vehicles required by the security forces.
Ismail Demir, president of the presidential defense industry, gave information to the AA reporter about the stage reached in these projects. Demir said they will soon offer new robotic assistants for Mehmetçik use.
Recalling the work done for the prototypes of light and medium class 1st level unmanned ground vehicles, Demir continued as follows:
“We signed a contract with ASELSAN for the second level of the middle class. With the project where Katmerciler will also be a platform manufacturer, the unmanned ground vehicles armed with the project will be delivered to the Ground Forces Command. Project, discovery, surveillance, determination of objectives, weapons systems and other necessary systems. ” It includes the development and mass production of unmanned ground vehicles, which can be mounted, can be controlled remotely, can be used autonomously, have superior mobility. “
PERFECTED TECHNOLOGICAL INFRASTRUCTURE
ASELSAN conducts studies for the development and production of unmanned systems of different sizes, which will be widely used in the battlefields of the future, can be remotely controlled, have the ability to decide and implement themselves, can operate in all conditions.
The company has provided the Turkish Armed Forces with various national and high-tech products in the field of unmanned systems. Security forces have been using ASELSAN’s unmanned aerial, sea and ground bomb destruction robots for many years.
ASELSAN has perfected its technological infrastructure in the field of unmanned systems over the years, developing partnerships with domestic and foreign platform manufacturers.
MEHMETÇİK WILL BE WITH HIS
The armed unmanned ground vehicle, on which ASELSAN and Katmerciler have been working for some time and has been compared to the “mini tank”, was developed in accordance with the opinions and suggestions of end users.
The remote control and autonomous vehicle will be able to serve with very low thermal trace characteristics with their electric and hybrid models.
The vehicle, with its rugged walking and suspension systems, will show superior performance in off-road and off-road conditions.
The platform will have skills like stabilization in all driving conditions (including 60 percent climbing), high shooting ability, high speed and mobility, choice of armor, and the use of a wide variety of weapon systems.
With the integration of the satellite connection, the range of control will be unlimited.
The platform offers a wide range of options to the user with its configurations that can participate in the weapons station with heavy and light weapons, reconnaissance surveillance vehicles, patient transport vehicles, cargo transport vehicles, rocket platforms and operations. amphibious landing.
The vehicle will be able to send information about the environment and the objectives it has determined to the center, patrolling the border with its characteristics, mapping the region and monitoring the environment. The vehicle will automatically detect and destroy the target with the integrated ASELSAN Sarp Remote Control Stabilized Weapons System version.
