AKP Istanbul deputy, member of the Executive Board and Central Decision, Markar Esayan, lost his life. Esayan, 51, was diagnosed with stomach cancer a year ago.
Messages of condolences from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the AKP and other political parties were shared on social media.
Presidential spokesman İbrahim Kalın said: “We have lost dear Markar Esayan. Thank you. He was one of the beautiful people raised in this country. I wish his family and relatives patience.”
Esayan, known as an Armenian-born business savvy, journalist and writer, was elected deputy from Istanbul in terms of 25 and 26. Constitutional Commission, Turkey – Member of the Harmonization Commission of the European Union, Turkey – Joint Parliamentary Commission of the European Union (CPM) held the position of vice-president.
Born in Istanbul in 1969, Markar Esayan completed his undergraduate education at Anadolu University Faculty of Business Administration in 1995 and completed his Master’s in Cultural Studies at Istanbul Bilgi University.

Since 2001, he has written columns under the title “Narrow Gate” at the invitation of Hrant Dink in the Agos newspaper, which he has written periodically since 1997.
After Hrant Dink’s murder on January 19, 2007, he worked with Etyen Mahçupyan to continue broadcasting Agos. He left Agos after the first anniversary of Dink’s death.
In 2008, he started working at the Taraf newspaper. He wrote columns under the heading “Between”. In 2012, he became the temporary editor of the newspaper for a short time.
Since the summer of 2013, he has continued to write columns on the websites of Yeni Şafak and Daily Sabah, Serbestiyet and Turkey Agenda newspapers.
Esayan also has books called “Narrow Chamber of Now”, “Encounter”, “Jerusalem”, “60 Days Stopping the World” and “Good Things”.
Eseyan, who spoke English and Armenian very well, was single.
