Mansur Yavaş, president of the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB), announced the money spent on sculptures and street furniture with the projects he described as sunk in his press conference held today.
Yavaş, who responded to criticism from the AKP Group’s Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Council, said:
WE HAVE SERVED MORE THAN A THOUSAND: Almost two years have passed. We are trying to serve you with sincerity, with good intentions, of course, there are also mistakes that we are missing, not impeccable people. We have made innovations in Ankara since our elections, first of all, we said transparency, we made that promise, we have more than a thousand tenders on our YouTube channel transparently, anyone can see.
WE DO NOT HAVE DEAD INVESTMENTS: All the expenses we make can be monitored by whoever wants from there up to a penny, while non-governmental organizations, professional associations are trying to make decisions together with everyone, and during this period, about two years have passed and we do not have an investment that can be called dead.
We spend 14 billion, not 10: First of all, we try to eliminate as soon as possible the problems suffered by the people of Ankara, many of our work in human health and human life. I said our expenses are on the Internet, but the AKP Group president asked 10 billion, what did they do? He asks implicitly, but the money I spend is 14 billion lire, 109 million 88 thousand lire.
HOW THEY DONATE: They advertised with posters of all the jobs they did for years, even when they were laying asphalt, they hung posters next to it. It is as if they donated to the people of Ankara. There is only one sign that we hang. We write down how much it costs. Therefore, we are accountable to the people of Ankara. We do not display or advertise. We don’t do fake openings, we invite singers, and we spend money.
OUR BIGGEST PROJECT: Now they ask what Mansur Yavaş has done, the eyes seek an Ankapark. 750 million dollars … neither do we. Our biggest project is to enrich the people of Ankara.
They’re looking for the city gates anyway. First human life, then the priorities of the city. We only have one problem to account to the people of Ankara and make sure that an Ankara citizen does not go to bed hungry as it is not an asphalt concrete municipality. We have no other problem than working for the people of Ankara to live healthy and happy lives.

Yavaş said: “Should this be Ankara’s priority? Is this the municipality that you defend? Is this what you say you can’t do? We will never see it, won’t we see it? Won’t we bury the money of the Ankara people? ” said.
Stating that the current cost of buying tall trees, shrubs and seasonal flowers between 2010 and 2019 is TL 3 billion 242 million, Mansur Yavaş said: “Most of them dry out due to planting errors and the weather. Then they say they dry the trees. I wish we could take better care of it than you. Because those coins are the coins that are pulled out of the throat of the Ankara people, ”he said.
