In a statement to journalists, Macron argued that he was against interference in Lebanon’s internal affairs.

“If we leave Lebanon to the confusion of regional powers, a civil war will break out.” Using his statement, Macron declared that reforms must be implemented in Lebanon, otherwise the economy will collapse.

Macron said that the victims of this situation would be the Lebanese people.

President Macron is expected to visit Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, on Monday and Tuesday. Elíseo sources indicated that the purpose of this visit is to press for the necessary conditions to be established for the formation of a government capable of carrying out reforms.

Speaking yesterday, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian declared that a new government must be established and reforms must be urgently implemented in Lebanon, saying: “Today, we face the risk of Lebanon’s disappearance.” he said.

Explosion in the port of Beirut

In the Port of Beirut, on August 4 a fire broke out in warehouse number 12, where explosives were found, and then there was a very powerful explosion that shook the entire city.

President Michel Avn said the explosion was caused by 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate stored in a warehouse in the port of Beirut for 6 years.

It was announced that 182 people died in the explosion, approximately 6 thousand people were injured and dozens of people disappeared.

The Lebanese authorities assessed that the explosion was caused by “negligence” rather than an attack, and protests took place in the streets to demand the punishment of those responsible.

As a result of the protests, the government of Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diyab resigned on August 10.
