WHO IS LÜTFİ ELVAN?

Born in Karaman in 1962, Lütfi Elvan graduated from the Faculty of Mines at Istanbul Technical University. Elvan completed his Master of Operations and Mining Research at the University of Leeds in England in 1986, and completed his second Master of Economics at the University of Delaware in 1995.

Elvan began his professional career as an engineer in Etibank’s General Management Operations Research Group, and worked as an engineer between 1987-1989. He held various positions in the State Planning Organization of the First Ministry between 1989 and 2007. Between 1989-1990 he served as Assistant Specialist in Planning in the field of Evaluation of Investment and Export Incentives and Incentive Policies in the General Directorate of Incentives and Implementation.

Between 1990-1993 he worked as a Planning Specialist responsible for the investments of public institutions in the field of the mining sector and as National Coordinator of Projects of the United Nations Development Program. Between 1993-1995, he obtained a master’s degree in economics from the “University of Delaware” in the United States.

Between 1999 and 2003, he was Vice Chair of the OECD Rural Development Working Group.

He was elected MP for Karaman in the 2007 general election.

That period between 2007-2011, the advice of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the co-chair of the Turkey-EU Joint Parliamentary Commission, the chairman of the Hungarian Turkey Friendship Group, are in the Representative of the Southeast Cooperation Process of Turkey Europe.

He was elected MP for Karaman again in the 2011 general election.
