In the first week of Basketball THY Europa League, Fenerbahçe Beko defeated the Red Star Mts team of Serbia 77-63 on their own ground.
In the opening minutes of the match, Fenerbahçe Beko scored a score of 10-10 in the 6th minute, after Barthel scored the free kicks against Kızılyıldız mts by scoring two 3-pointers in a row and 8-3. The yellowish-blue team, which went ahead 12-10 with Vesely’s basket, increased the difference to 5 (18-13) in the 8th minute, being also effective in outside shots. Fenerbahçe Beko finished the first quarter with a 24-20 lead on Ali Muhammed’s 3-pointers.
Continuing their superiority also in the second half, Fenerbahçe Beko did not allow their opponent to reduce the difference and went ahead 42-30 in the locker room.
The yellow-blue team, which continued with its effective defense in the third quarter, again opened the gap, especially with the baskets of Brown and Ulanovas, and entered the last period ahead 57-41.
Kızılyıldız mts started the last quarter effectively and reduced the difference to 11 points: 57-46. Recovered in a short time, Fenerbahçe Beko again increased the difference to 15 points in the 38th minute: 72-57. Finding easy numbers under the crucible, the yellow-dark blue team won the match 77-63.
Red Star MTS player Michael Ojo, who died of a heart attack in August, and Doctor Roman Abzhelilov, of the CSKA Moscow basketball team, who died in May due to a new type of coronavirus (Kovid-19), had a minute of silence before the match.
