In the case of the terrorist attack in Reina, the Ortaköy entertainment center, which killed 39 people on New Year’s Eve, the defendant Abdulkadir Masharipov was sentenced to 40 aggravated life sentences and 1,368 years in prison.
At the hearing held by the 27th Istanbul Heavy Criminal Court in the courtroom opposite the Silivri Campus of Closed Criminal Enforcement Institutions, the verdict was announced after the defendants’ last conviction.
The court sentenced the defendant, Abdulkadir Masharipov, who carried out the attack, to 40 times aggravated life in prison for “violating the Constitution” and “deliberate murder” of 39 people, one of whom was a policeman.
The delegation sentenced the defendant Masharipov to 1,368 years in prison for “attempting to kill” 79 people and “violating the firearms law number 6136” and decided to continue the defendant’s detention.
The delegation sentenced one of the detained defendants, Ilyas Mashmaripov, to 1,432 years in prison for “deliberately assisting in killing”, “assisting in violation of the Constitution” and “assisting in the deliberate attempt to kill”, claiming he was one of the planners of the terrorist attack and helped Masharipov. He ruled the continuation.
Deciding that 11 of the defendants were acquitted of all crimes, the delegation sentenced some defendants to various types of prison terms for “belonging to a terrorist organization”.
