Turkey’s Major Steps Starting in 2003, we met all targets despite obstacles. Those who saw that they could not raise a barrier against our fight for democracy and development have given their best in the field for the last 7 years. They used everyone from terrorist organizations to coup leaders. As we emptied the traps one by one, they came up with new games, sometimes insidiously, sometimes recklessly. We responded to these attacks by strengthening our unity at home and demonstrating our diplomatic and military power abroad.
They tried to surround us with a hall of terror. We broke this chain with our operations. They tried to imprison us in the eastern Mediterranean and we interrupted this effort. In Libya they entered another game using especially the coup plotters, and there we left their enthusiasm to recover. By provoking Armenia, we made another move in the Caucasus, we experienced the joy of a victory that would end 30 years of suffering.

They embarked on political engineering bringing together those who did not have a word, project, or vision to say to our nation. I hope they are not successful in this. Despite all the difficulties, we began a new era in our struggle to develop, grow, strengthen and enrich our country from east to west, from north to south. Our goal is not to fight anyone inside or outside, violate anyone’s rights or alter anyone’s legitimate position. We want to cooperate stronger with our friends and allies. We ask the EU not to discriminate, to keep its promises, unless it is not a tool of open hostility towards our country. See you in Europe, not elsewhere, and we envision building our future with Europe.

We wish to use our long and close alliance relations with the United States in the settlement of regional and global relations. We can never ignore countries like Russia and Iran. We have deep relationships with the Islamic world. No one has the right to threaten Turkey with such arguments. “
