During the construction of the Honaz Tunnel, which is under construction in Denizli, the area of the archaeological settlement was identified. An investigation was started on the findings found during excavations on the tunnel connecting road. 77 excavations were opened by the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums of the region.

This was claimed to be caused by earthquakes. The region was registered as ‘Hamambaşı Archaeological Settlement Area’ by decision of the Aydın Regional Cultural Heritage Preservation Board.
