The Scientific Committee met with the participation of the Minister of Health, Fahrettin Koca, using the videoconference method. The developments of the Covidien-19 vaccine in Turkey and the world for their work, the meeting will be made to the vaccine and those who discussed the priority groups took 4 hours. The following statements were included in the written statement about the meeting;

* The intense work of the members of the Scientific Committee, made up of distinguished scientists from our country, has made a significant contribution to the management of this process. Our Council meets regularly and assesses scientific developments and new situations that arise. Our scientists share their opinions on prevention, diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment; Guide the fight by preparing guides, guides and algorithms.

* Many countries, including our country, have mobilized all their scientific knowledge and financial resources for vaccine development studies and are striving to provide more effective protection against the epidemic.

VACCINE STUDIES ARE CLOSE

* As previously shared with the public, we are closely following the different vaccine studies and continuing our efforts to achieve vaccines that have been shown to be effective and safe as soon as possible. We have signed a contract for the supply of an inactivated virus vaccine. We are also in talks for an mRNA vaccine.

* With the vaccines to be implemented in the coming days, our hands will be stronger in protecting against the epidemic and it will be possible for us to achieve successful results against the epidemic with other measures.

* Discussions about vaccines that are far from scientific truth do nothing but break our forces in the fight we hope to win. Both our scientists and our Ministry are concerned about the safety and efficacy of the vaccine, not about the origin. Therefore, the decisions to be made and the concrete steps to be taken about vaccines will determine the short and long-term safety and effectiveness of the vaccines developed.

THE INFRASTRUCTURE IS READY

The vaccine, which is one of the three vaccines that we are closest to supplying at this time, and which reached the first clinical studies among the vaccines developed in our country with the vaccine that we signed with the contract, are known as “inactive” vaccines. . Inactivated vaccines are vaccines that have been applied in our country for many years for different diseases and their long-term safety is known. Our facilities and logistics infrastructure are ready for the administration of vaccines after delivery.

* The other vaccine that we are about to provide is the mRNA vaccine and it is a genetically effective vaccine that can be produced in a shorter time. MRNA vaccines are prepared with a new technology applied to humans. Successful short-term results have been obtained in studies. Our calls for other alternative vaccines that may be relevant to Turkish standards are ongoing.

PART ONE AFTER DECEMBER 11

* The vaccine contract that we made the first part of Turkey is expected to arrive after December 11. When vaccines first appeared internationally accredited by the Turkish Public Health and Pharmaceutical Products and Medical Devices Agency (TİTCK) by the laboratory, studies are also being implemented on all vaccines that will be imported into our country.

* After the positive results of the vaccine safety tests in these examinations and the announcement of the first results of the Phase 3 studies, the data will be evaluated by TITCK and if they are in accordance with the standards of our country, they will be will grant an early use permit. The vaccines will be administered after this stage.

* As a country, we strive to be prepared in advance. Our Scientific Committee carries out its studies on the vaccination strategy. Detailed planning is carried out, which includes the identification and prioritization of risk groups, the reorganization of our health personnel who spend all their energy under heavy patient loads, in the vaccination campaign, and logistics management.

GENERAL PRIORITIES DETERMINED

* Efforts are being made to establish a distribution framework within the framework of human rights, equality, justice and legitimacy, which has been highlighted by WHO in the planning of vaccine distribution. Among the ethical principles that form the basis of this framework are providing maximum benefit, reducing health inequalities, and ensuring fair, transparent, and evidence-based distribution of vaccines.

* The general priorities are determined by our Scientific Committee, taking into account factors such as infection, mortality, risk of negative social impact among various population groups. In accordance with these priorities, vaccination studies are expected to be conducted in four stages.

THE FIRST GROUPS IN WHICH THE VACCINE WILL BE PERFORMED ARE DETERMINED

* In a first stage, health professionals, citizens over 65 years of age and adults who live in collective and crowded places such as the elderly, the disabled and those who stay in shelters will be vaccinated.

* In the second stage, people who work in critical positions and in sectors necessary for the functioning of society and in high-risk environments and people with at least one chronic disease from the age of 50 will be vaccinated.

* The third stage includes citizens under 50 with at least one chronic disease, young adults and those who work in sectors and professions that do not belong to the first two groups.

* In the fourth and last stage, all individuals other than the first three groups will be vaccinated.

IT WILL BE ONE OF THE FIRST COUNTRIES

* If the surveillance evolution in a positive direction, we hope Turkey began the vaccination study in the world will be one of the first countries in the early stages.

However, the vaccine will increase our combat power; We would like to remind you that we must comply with existing restrictions and measures with sensitivity and not allow the slightest negligence.

The key to getting back to our normal lives depends on acting together as a country and meticulously implementing all measures together.
