On a television channel attended by İYİ Party Chairman Meral AKŞENER on November 16, 2020, the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Ekrem İmamoğlu, stated that he was accused of separatism and separatism on a television channel who was opposed to the Kanal Istanbul Project. PUBLIC OPPOSITION TO THE STATE PROJECT

When the subjects subject to approval are examined; Municipalities, which are expressed in the Constitution “Principle of integrity of the administration” and in this framework, they are subject to administrative control of guardianship, The duty to “Protect the Rights and Benefits of the Town and the Municipality”, which is among the duties of the mayor in accordance with the Municipality Law, is limited to the duties assigned to the municipality, Stating that it is against the principle of integrity of the administration and the law to oppose an issue that has an international legal dimension, is subject to the political sphere and is related to the “State Sovereignty Authority” with a banner like “Ya Channel or Istanbul “. It is seen that there are investigations into those responsible and a preliminary examination if deemed necessary.
NO DIVISIONAL ACCUMULATIONS
The personal opposition of the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality to the Kanal Istanbul Project was not questioned anywhere in the approval, and the fact that these posters were printed institutionally and using public resources was included in the preliminary investigation / examination. As alleged, there is no accusation of separatism anywhere in the consent.
As in all investigations, in the investigation / preliminary examination based on the approval dated 08.17.2020, a statement was requested from the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Mr. Ekrem İMAMOĞLU, with a letter dated 11.09.2020 from our Civil Inspector and the subjects in the request letter were repeated and asked to give a written statement during the day. In the speech request letter, Mr. Ekrem İMAMO ProjectLU’s personal opposition to the Kanal Istanbul Project was not questioned, nor was he accused of separatism.
