Reporting that the mosque will be restored within 2 years, Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya said:
“There was a fire that made us all deeply saddened on Sunday afternoon. The Vaniköy Mosque, one of the most beautiful buildings in Istanbul and the Bosphorus, sadly burned down. As you know, the fire was intervened in a short time. It was taken under control in no time. Fortunately, there were no losses of life or injuries. I thank everyone who participated in putting out the fire. The fire investigation continues. As you know, the Anatolian Attorney General issued a press release. It is our greatest responsibility to protect them as they deserve and carry them into the future. We deeply feel this responsibility for the Vaniköy Mosque. IF NO FIRE OCCURRED, IT WILL BE RESTORED SOON
Yerlikaya pointed out that if there were no fire in the Vaniköy Mosque, the restoration work would start soon, Yerlikaya said: “In this context, for the restoration work, our 2nd Regional Directorate of the General Directorate of Foundations signed a contract on February 7 of 2019, on October 25, 2019, the recognition and restitution projects, It was sent to the Istanbul Regional Conservation Board No. 6. In addition, the Vaniköy Mosque Restoration Project was submitted to the Zoning Directorate of Boğaziçi on October 10, 2019. Therefore, all the work for the restoration of the mosque was nearing completion. It was reported in November 2020. However, after this fire, there is a new situation. THE KALYON ASUME FOUNDATION
Ali Yerlikaya, who stated that after the fire, the President of the Kalyon Foundation, Orhan Cemal Kalyoncu, called the Istanbul Governorate and stated that he was very sorry for the fire of the mosque and that he wanted to restore the mosque as a neighbor according to the original.
